Zoo City Summer Classic Recap: 56 Teams, 13 Champions, 1 Big Weekend
Inside: FOX8 coverage, champions and finalists, standout club performances, and more highlights from our North Carolina debut.

Good morning,
What a weekend in Asheboro!
The 2026 Zoo City Summer Classic brought together 56 teams from 5 states for a high-energy weekend in our first-ever North Carolina tournament. The atmosphere was electric, and we’re grateful for every player, coach, parent, staff, volunteer, vendor, and community partner who helped make it special.

We were proud to have the Zoo City Summer Classic featured by FOX8 WGHP, helping shine a bigger spotlight on the event, our partnered orgs involved, and the soccer community that made the weekend special.

Congratulations to all of our champions and finalists from the weekend. The quality of play across the competition was outstanding, and these teams earned it.

⭐ Standout Club Performances
A few programs especially stood out this weekend.
Impact FC had an outstanding event, with all four teams medaling. Their U12 Girls, U13 and U15 boys won championships, while their U14 boys finished as finalists.
JASA also had a tremendous weekend. Their U9 and U10 girls won titles, and their U13 boys finished second.
And shoutout as well to Union Youth FC, whose U9, U11, and U18/19 boys all finished as finalists.
10 different programs were crowned champions, and an additional 9 finished as finalists. That kind of depth says a lot about the quality of the clubs that came to Asheboro.
💙 More Than Soccer
The competition was only part of what made the weekend special.
It was great to have Kits for Kicks on-site building relationships in the soccer community and continuing its mission of getting gear to players in need. We were also proud to have Madi’s Mission raising awareness and the Southwestern Randolph High School Interact Club volunteering throughout the event.

The vendor village was a big hit as well, and we’re grateful to all of the businesses and organizations that helped create such a fun event atmosphere for players and families.
📸 More Photos & Highlights This Week
We’ve already shared the Girls Day photo album on Facebook, and we’ll be posting the Boys Day album once the remaining photos are finished. We’ll also continue sharing champions, team spotlights, and weekend highlights across our social channels throughout the week.
Closing Thoughts
The Zoo City Summer Classic was more than a successful tournament weekend. It was a strong first step for UnitedGoals USA in North Carolina and a great example of what youth soccer can look like when competition, community, and purpose come together.
Thank you again to everyone who helped make the weekend unforgettable.
