Edition 1: Building American Soccer Together

Good morning,

I’m thrilled to bring you the very first edition of the UnitedGoals USA Newsletter. My goal with every email is simple: to share my passion for youth soccer and the community that makes it thrive.

Today is a milestone — our first edition. I hope you enjoy it, and I’d love to hear your feedback.

Coach’s Corner: 2v1 → 3v2 Breakaway Drill

This drill trains players to attack and defend breakaways, finish under pressure, and transition quickly.

Setup:

• One field, ~20–30 yards long (sidelines optional)

• One team starts with the ball near their goal

How It Works:

1. Red begins with a 2v1 attack.

2. After a save, turnover, or goal, Green counters with a 3v2 attack the other way.

3. If the ball stays live after Green’s counter, reset or continue play — your choice.

4. Rotate which team starts with the 2v1 and make sure everyone keeps score to add competition.

Parent’s Corner: Turning Setbacks Into Strength

Every tough loss or “bad call” is a chance for kids to grow. When you model calm encouragement and forward focus instead of frustration, players develop resilience — a skill that lasts beyond the field and pays lifelong dividends.

Community Spotlight: Ambassadors Football

Ambassadors Football is a faith-based soccer organization that unites kids from city neighborhoods, refugee communities, and suburbs through the game they love. By combining quality training with a mission of faith, the club builds character, friendships, and lasting impact far beyond the field.

We were honored to meet some of their players and coaches at the 7v7 Steel City Showdown in April.
